Christy Ucheibe Wins Portuguese League Cup With S.L. Benfica [2020]

20-year-old Christy Ucheibe, a Nigerian female footballer has won the Portuguese League Cup with S.L. Benfica [2020].

This is an incredible record for the midfielder as she is now the first Nigerian female footballer to win a League Cup in Portugal. Benfica were crowned champions in Portugal following their impressive and emphatic 3-0 win over Sporting Braga.

The Portuguese League Cup was launched two years ago and Benfica and Sporting Braga even met in the group stage in which Christy Ucheibe and her teammates also won.

Christy Ucheibe started her professional career at Nigerian League side Nasarawa Amazons in 2018 before moving to Assi IF in 2019 where she played 24 games scoring one goal.

Ucheibe was selected for the 2014 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. In the last tournament she played three matches from the start for Nigeria.
