The Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Northwest Petroleum & Gas Co. Ltd.; Mrs. Winifred Akpani, has been conferred with the Positive Impact Award by the Cross River State Government in collaboration with Profiles & Biographies, a biographical and supplemental information management company.
The award which was conferred on her on Saturday as part of the October 1 Independence celebrations in the state is “in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the development of Cross River State and Nigeria in general.
In a award certificate dated Saturday, October 1, 2016 and signed by Rose Mary Archibong, Commissioner for Information and Orientation on behalf of the Cross River State Government, and Kammonke Abam, CEO, Profiles & Biographies, Mrs. Winifred Akpani was also recognized for distinguishing herself in “philanthropy, corporate social responsibility, community development and the oil and gas sub-sector of the economy.”
Presenting the award, the Governor, represented by his Deputy, Professor Ivara Ejemot Esu described Mrs. Akpani as someone with strong social responsibility ethos which made her to provide petroleum products at pump price to everyone in all her filling stations at the peak of the fuel scarcity.
A chartered accountant, Mrs. Akpani holds a B.SC degree in Mathematics with Second Class Honours (Upper Division) from the University of Benin, Benin- City, Edo State, Nigeria and a Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Science from the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos State.
She is a Fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA) and the Institute of Directors (IOD)
In her quest for self-fulfillment, Mrs. Winifred Akpani founded Northwest Petroleum & Gas Company Limited in 1998, which has grown from a small–scale supplier of diesel to Banks, Homes and Guest Houses to an International Oil Trading and Services Company with operational facilities in Calabar, Cross River State and retail outlets across Nigeria.
Northwest Petroleum & Gas Company Limited is a Company in the Oil & Gas Sector of the economy. The Company has vast experience in the importation, supply, distribution and storage of Petroleum Products and is also actively involved in the official export of Crude Oil from Nigeria being one of twenty-one Companies approved by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for allocation and export of Nigerian Crude Oil.
Presently, amongst other facilities, the Company operates two (2) Ultra-Modern Mega Petroleum Products Storage Terminals with combined capacity of 96.8 Million litres certified and duly licensed by the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) and an Ultra-Modern Berthing Facility with International state-of-the-art Fire Fighting and Safety Equipment in the Calabar Free Trade Zone, Cross River State. The Company also owns and operates several 24– and 26- Ultra-Modern Mega Petroleum Products Filling Stations across the country.
