The Dr. Freedom Griffith Akinjide Ogbe Birthday Event 2020 is organised to recognise and celebrate the life of Dr. Freedom Griffith Akinjide Ogbe on his birthday (6th of August 2020).
The Dr. Freedom Griffith Akinjide Ogbe Event 2020 is administered in three (3) debating sections: positive parenting values; understanding sustainable energy and nation-building in Nigeria.
The online debate sessions are aimed at promoting a healthy and open critical-thinking or independent thinking culture as well as conversations towards improving the salient issues especially peculiar to the Nigerian society.
Eligibility and expectation(s):
- Open to everyone
- One (1) post submission per person/participant
- A person/participant can participate in all sections of the debate event as desired.
- Participation is free – at no cost to the participants
- The event language is English language.
- Timelines (GMT +1; Nigerian time)
- PositiveNaija Team (excluding Volunteers) and members of the Ogbe family are not eligible.
Event guidelines:
- Event commences on the 6th of August 2020.
- Debates on respective topics will be held on a created on the PositiveNaija Q&A Forum.
- Participants will only know about the specific debate topics under the respective debate sections at the scheduled time of the debates.
- Every participant is free to argue for or against the debate topic (in-betweens are not recommended – take a stand).
- Each debate question is to be answered within a 10-minute window. If the time for the debate stated is 8:00 pm – 8:10:00 for example, answers/submissions from 8:11:00 will be nullified.
- If you edit your post containing your answers/submission to the debate, that edited time will be taken/noted as the time in which you took the debate.
- Winners are declared based on originality, application of relevant references where applicable (no plagiarism), narrative structure, logical consistency.
- Winners are communicated with to provide their account details towards receiving their prize through their email addresses used in registering on the Forum – on or before the end of the following day.
- PositiveNaija on behalf of the sponsors sends to the winners their reward.
- To participate in the debate event, register on the PositiveNaija Q&A Forum with your username being your full names (same as your bank account name – should you win).
Reward [Cash Prizes]:
- 1st prize: ₦5,000 per section
- For joint-winners, the winning prize will not be split rather, the full prize for first position will be given to both joint-winners respectively.
