Mfon Udoh and Sanusi Ibrahim of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) have officially been rewarded with the 2019 Eunisell Boot Award and a cash prize of 2 million each for emerging joint-highest goal scorers in just concluded season (2018/2019).

Akwa United captain and Nasarawa United striker both scored 10 goals each this past NPFL season and Eunisell values a goal in the Nigeria Professional Football League at Two Hundred Thousand Naira (200,000) at the Eunisell Boot Awards 2019 ceremony held in Raddison Blu Hotel, Ikeja-Lagos.

According to Eunisell’s Group Managing Director, Chika Ikenga:

“Football is entertaining, football brings us together in Nigeria.

More than anything, football helps people in terms of being fit, it creates a job.

It provides an opportunity for our young people to stay out of trouble. So we wanted to see how we can get involved, how we can help.

We chose to reward the people in the front so that they can pull the other people. We would like to see in the next five years that our stadiums are as full as premier league stadiums. We are not going to do it alone, but we will do it with the rest of society.”

On receiving his award, Sanusi Ibrahim stated:

“I was more than excited when I was presented my 2 million cheque and Eunisell Boot. I want to dedicate the Eunisell Boot Award to my mother, family, coaches, teammates at Nasarawa United and the media.”

On his part, Mfon Udoh said:

“I will like to use this opportunity to appreciate the organizers of Eunisell award, in fact, it’s a dream come true for me at the local scene, which is also coincidence with my wedding period. It’s a double honour for me. I can’t but also thank my team mates, Club management and coaches of Akwa United for their support throughout the season and the glory goes to the Almighty God.”

The Eunisell Boot Awards was instituted by the energy firm last season with former Kano Pillars striker, Junior Lokosa winning the award and a cash prize of 3,800,000 after scoring 19 goals for his side.

With the 2019 award, Mfon Udoh becomes the first player in the history of NPFL to win the league top scorer award twice. He also set a record for the highest number of goals scored in a football season with 23 goals while playing for Enyimba in the 2013/2014 NPFL season.
