Africa Check, the continent’s first independent non-profit fact-checking organisation, supported by philanthropic organisations and individual donors, was established in South Africa in 2012. This team has debunked inflammatory statements about the number of foreign nationals in the country and revealed errors in the national crime statistics.

Africa Check’s francophone office, established in Senegal in 2015, led to an international health agency correcting information it shared about teen pregnancies.

Our offices in Nigeria, set up in 2016, and Kenya, opened in 2017, have set the record straight on important issues such as “child prostitution” and the extent of chronic depression.

DUBAWA is Nigeria’s first indigenous independent verification and fact-checking project, initiated by the Premium Times Centre for Investigative Journalism (PTCIJ) and supported by the most influential newsrooms and civic organisations in West Africa to help amplify the culture of truth in public discourse, public policy, and journalistic practice.

It has now become a transnational Fact-Checking Project spanning across the West African Sub-region with offices in Ghana and Sierra Leone.

The FactCheckHub is an initiative of the International Centre for Investigative Reporting (The ICIR) aimed at combating misinformation in the society.

Established in May 2020 with headquarters in the Federal Capital Territory -Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, we are an independent, impartial fact-checking organisation from Africa.

The FactCheckHub is a non-partisan platform for fact-checking with the primary aim of combating misinformation, disinformation, hoaxes and rumours about topical issues including COVID-19, elections, health and governance, among others.

FactCheckHub also monitor the factual accuracy of what is said by major political and business players across Africa; be it in the form of TV ads, debates, speeches, interviews or press releases.

The FactsMatterNg project is building collaborations among journalists, fact checkers and social media influencers to combat misinformation in Nigeria.

People’s Check is an independent fact-checking and verification organization run by a group of Nigerian students. People’s Check is a non-governmental organization that serves as a platform for all aspiring fact-checkers and those who need a platform to affect the positive change they envision.
