Obiageli Katryn Ezekwesili Receives Crans Montana Forum Gold Medal Award [2018]

Obiageli Katryn Ezekwesili, Senior Economic Adviser and Public Policy Analyst, Africa Economic Policy Development Initiative (AEDPI) and Former Vice President for Africa for the World Bank has been awarded a Golden Medal of the Crans Montana Forum.

Obiageli Katryn Ezekwesili was a co-founder of Transparency International, serving as one of the pioneer directors of the global anti-corruption body based in Berlin, Germany. She also served as the Vice-President of the World Bank’s Africa division from May 2007 to May 2012.

Obiageli Katryn Ezekwesili was a 2018 nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize for her work in transparency in the extractive sector.

The Golden Medal of the Crans Montana Forum was also received by Sun Xiansheng, Secretary-General of the International Energy Forum.

The official ceremony of international forum was held in Dakhla (March 15-20, 2018) and was chaired by Jean-Paul Carteron, Honorary President and Founder of the Crans Montana Forum.

The Speaker of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Parliament, Moustapha Cissé Lo, received the 2018 Crans Montana Foundation Award.

Cissé Lo was presented with the award in recognition of his work as head of the parliamentary body which includes 16 member countries.

First Lady of the Republic of Palau and Michel Martelly, former President of the Republic of Haiti, were also honored during the ceremony.

During the ceremony, Carteron received the Global Leadership Award, which was presented by American civil rights activist Jesse Louis Jackson, President and Founder of the Rainbow Push Coalition.

At the same event, a distinction was received by Belgian State Minister Herman de Croo in celebration of 20 years of friendship with the Crans Montana Forum.

The Forum also appointed forty new future leaders in 2018, including thirteen from Morocco’s southern provinces.

The Crans Montana Forum is a Swiss Non-Governmental International Organization established in 1986 to build a more Humane World “Towards a more Humane World” and encourages international cooperation and overall growth. It also works to promote best practices and to ensure a permanent dialogue between all those who handle high-level responsibilities.
