Team Queens’ Foris Labs Win Diamond Challenge Global Prize Award 2021

Team Queens’ Foris Labs, a team of seven Nigerian students has emerged overall winner of the Diamond Challenge Global Prize Award 2021.

Team Queens’ Foris Labs, a team of seven students from Queen of the Rosary College, Onitsha comprising of Chisom Iwuno, Amara Okechukwu, Okoye Chidinma, Nnaji Mmesoma, Mgbafulu Sandra, Anozie Stephanie and Iheator was led by their mentors – John Onuigbo and Kyrian Obikwelu.

The team won a $1,500 cash prize along with other prizes including further mentorship, etc.

Dyslexia Genius, a team of three students from China/USA emerged in second place.

The global event, which was supposed to happen in person at the University of Delaware, USA, was held online because of travel restrictions due to the pandemic from 11th to 16th of April, 2021.

Queens’ Foris Labs gained the opportunity to represent Nigeria in the Global semifinals after winning first place, beating nine (9) other teams from various states in Nigeria at the National competition held at Senator Albert Bassey Hall, Uyo on 11th March 2021.

Queens’ Foris Labs pitched their project, “Queen labs” app, which is a virtual learning space that allows students to conduct science experiments and understand science concepts better.

Queens’ Foris Labs team were the National champions of the Beyond school community challenge 2020 sponsored by the United States Embassy and organised by the Mandela Washington Fellowship Association of Nigeria (MWFAAN).

The Global Prize Awards powered by Horn Entrepreneurship recognizes the top global teams that demonstrate entrepreneurship excellence and embody the true spirit of the Diamond Challenge.

The Diamond Challenge propels high school entrepreneurs to the next level through meaningful connections, resources and transformative feedback.

The Challenge was established in 2012 by the University of Delaware to identify entrepreneurial talented high school students and teams with project ideas globally on issues that affect their generation.
