  • 12th May, 2022: Nigeria and Republic of Benin further strengthened their regional cooperation by signing a Bilateral Agreement for the operationalization of Seme-krake Joint Border Post, which is aimed at promoting the movement of people, Goods and enhanced revenue collection for both countries.
  • 2021: Nigeria Exports to Benin was US$79.71 Million during 2021 while Benin Exports to Nigeria was US$8.67 Million during 2021, according to the United Nations COMTRADE database on international trade.

  • November 2021: Nigeria, Benin Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Angola and Cameroon adopt the Yaoundé Code of Conduct (YCC) with a view to sustaining the low level of pirate attacks on vessels in the Gulf of Guinea (GoG). The YCC describes the signatory states’ intent to ‘co-operate to the fullest possible extent in the repression of transnational organized crime’.
