Winners Of 2017 Lagos Advertising And Ideas Festival (LAIF) Awards

Winners have emerged at the 2017 Lagos Advertising and Ideas Festival (LAIF) awards aimed at rewarding and recognising creative excellence.

Noah’s Ark Communications Limited emerged the overall best creative agency at the Lagos Advertising and Ideas Festival (LAIF).

The 10-year-old agency won the much-coveted prize, Grand Prix for “Lost”, its much-acclaimed commercial for Airtel, thus making history as the only agency in Nigeria, for now, to win the LAIF Grand Prix back-to-back.

The jury of the Lagos Advertising & Ideas Festival (LAIF) adjudged Airtel’s Lost Television Commercial as the best advertising campaign in 2017.

Noah’s Ark Communications Limited in addition to the Grand Prix, won six gold medals, nine silver and seven bronze medals.

Noah’s Ark Communications Limited submitted 60 entries, out of which 54 were shortlisted and 24 of the entries eventually won the awards. With its performance at the 2017 edition of LAIF, Noah’s Ark has set the record of winning two out of the four grand prix that have ever been awarded in the 12 years existence of LAIF Awards.

Aside clinching the grand prix at LAIF, the Lost TVC won a Gold in Telecom services sub category under Film; another Gold in Film Craft in the same category; and bronze in Best Use of Music under the Film and Film craft sub categories.

Noah’s Ark Communications Limited had earlier won gold at the recently concluded Epica Award in Brussel, Germany with its Airtel “Lost” spot. The ad was also shortlisted among the 20 funniest ads of 2017 in the current edition of the globally acclaimed advertising magazine, Adweek.

X3M, a five year-old agency, led by Steve Babaeko, finished second runners-up, behind Noah’s Ark and DDB, winning a total of 20 medals: nine gold, five silver and six bronze medals.

7even Interactive, established in 2014, had a total medal haul of 16: four  gold medals, five silver medals and seven bronze medals.

9mobile won 13 awards, a record feat.

The awards presented in several top categories comprised seven gold, three silver and three bronze. The awards included Gold in Radio – Corporate Image, for the jingle that heralded the launch of 9mobile’s new brand identity unveil in July; and Gold in Radio Craft – Best Use of Music, also in acknowledgement of the successful new brand identity launch. 9mobile also won Gold in Digital Craft, for its Cloud 9 Independence Day campaign, and Gold for Easyblaze Hand press campaign.

The telco’s flagship pan-African literary prize, 9mobile Prize for Literature clinched the remaining three gold awards for the short film, “CLOSED”. The awards comprised Gold in Film Craft – Best Production and Art Direction; Gold in Film – Corporate Image; and Gold in Film – Promotions Editing.

Mr. Lanre Adisa, the MD/Chief Creative Officer of Noah’s Ark Communications Limited, described the achievement as a symbolic milestone, noting that the success would not have happened without the support of clients who were willing to accept market-changing creative ideas.

Lagos Advertising and Ideas Festival (LAIF), a brain child of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) seeks to recognize creative excellence, quality of creative craft and to promote the spirit of healthy competition amongst creative agencies while applying global best practices.
