Winners Of ANA Literary Prizes 2018

Winners have emerged in the Association of Nigerian Authors, ANA Literary Prizes 2018 at the end of the four-day 37th International Convention of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) in Ikeja, Lagos.

This year’s convention held under the theme: “Literature, Megacities and Mega-narratives”, with its keynote delivered by Professor Karen King-Aribisala of the University of Lagos.

The ANA Literary Prize is committed towards building a humane society and knowledge economy driven by highly motivated creative writers.

ANA PROSE FICTION PRIZE

  1. The Beginning of Everything Colourful – Onyeka Nwelue
  2. Hang No Clothes Here – Bolaji Olatunde
  3. The Longest Trial – Uchenna Eze (Winner – with a 100,000 cash prize)
  4. Absolution – Oreva Ode Irri
  5. The Return of Half-Something – Chukwudi Eze

   ANA DRAMA PRIZE

  1. Teeth set on Edge – Akin Bello
  2. Brother – Achalugo Ezekobe
  3. Guerilla Post – Obari Gomba (Winner – with a 100,000 cash prize)
  4. Saint Ojedi – Amechi Chiedu Obumse

ANA POETRY PRIZE

  1. The Poet of Dust – Umar Abubakar Sidi
  2. The Lagos Cuban Jazz Club – Onyeka Nwelue
  3. Bombblast or Breakfast – J. O. J. Nwachukwu-Agbada (Winner – with a 100,000 cash prize)
  4. Blood Drops – Patrick Oguejiofor

ANA/ ABUBAKAR GIMBA PRIZE FOR SHORT STORIES

  1. Justice Club – Sasi Miet Jajja (Winner – with a ₦200,000 cash prize)
  2. Things That Start Small But Sweet – Bibi Ukonu
  3. Vacancy for the Post of a Bride – Emmanuel Asika

The ANA Prize  for Children’s Literature

  1. Nwauwa: the Girl with big Dreams – Paschal Okeke & Vera O. Chuks-Iwuchukwu
  2. Primrose and the Kidnappers – Jide Ogunlana (Winner – with a 100,000 cash prize)
  3. Once Upon a Village- Su’eddie Vershima Agema

ANA/NECO TEEN AUTHOR PROSE PRIZE

  1. If You Looked Inside a Girl – Chibundum Kosisochukwu Ndukwe
  2. Tomorrow Brings Beautiful Things: Stories – Ernest Ogunyemi (Winner – with a 100,000 cash prize)

 ANA/MARIA AJIMA PRIZE FOR LITERARY CRITICISM

  1. Nativisation as Style and Identity Marker in Barclays Ayakoroma’s Dance on His Grave – Ebi Yeibo (Winner – with a 100,000 cash prize)
