2025 Basic Education School Sports Competition: Delta State Emerge Winner

Delta State has emerged champion of the 2025 Basic Education School Sports Competition jointly organised by the Nigerian Football Association (NFA) and the National School Sport Federation (NSSF) in Abuja.

The victory automatically qualifies Delta to represent Nigeria at the forthcoming under-15 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Tournament.

Receiving the victorious team in Asaba, the Executive Chairman of the Delta State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Samuel Mariere, attributed the success to the state’s leadership.

Mariere added that the victorious players would be handed over to the Delta State Sports Commission for proper grooming, with the programme extending beyond football to cover other sporting disciplines.

Also speaking, the Sports Officer in charge of Basic Education School Sports, Joshua Akporiaye, said Delta State finished top at the 2025 Basic Education School Sports Competition with 13 points, followed by Ekiti with 10 points, while Enugu State placed third with 7 points.
