It has been poignantly noted by the erudite philosophical juggernaut, Aristotle the Great, when he posited that man is a teleological creature. Teleos is the Greek word for “goal” or “purpose”. In other words, man is a goal-oriented entity.
While the idea of goal-getting seems inspiring, one must note that the most remarkable aspect of it is that, as a natural being, man’s goals are numerous. Even when they appear few, they resemble a prism — multifaceted and complex. For instance, his goals may include business success, good health, family well-being, financial stability, building a house, and even seeking preternatural, psychological, or spiritual elevation, along with education — whether formal or informal.
It must be noted here that none of these goals can be actualized without education, whether formal or informal. As the Holy Book explicitly commands, “Study to show yourself approved”. Thus, it will not be a fallacy or exaggeration to assert that academics — education — is the noblest goal any bona fide campus mentis (thinking mind) can aspire to.
