AbdulJabar Adama has set new African records at the 16th Africa Junior Swimming Championships (AJSC) held in Cairo, Egypt.
Following his record-breaking performance in the 50 meters butterfly, the 16-year-old sensation achieved yet another milestone by setting a new record in the 50 meters freestyle.
Adama’s remarkable time of 12.54 seconds not only secured him the gold medal but also shattered the previous record of 22.65 seconds.
The young sensation also won gold in 100 meters freestyle — and added a bronze to complete a four-medal haul for Nigeria.
His 50 meters butterfly victory was particularly spectacular, as he broke the championship record twice in one day, clocking 23.89 seconds in the final after a record-breaking 24.19 in the heats.
Although he did not surpass his personal best or the championship record in the 100 meters freestyle, Adama’s pace was more than enough to bring home another gold for West African nation.
With this outstanding achievement, AbdulJabar Adama has significantly contributed to Nigeria’s medal tally at the championships, bringing it to four —three golds and one bronze — all thanks to his exceptional individual performances.
