Team Nigeria Wins 11th Africa Armwrestling Championships

Team Nigeria has emerged overall winner at the 11th Africa Armwrestling Championships which held at the Indoor Sports Hall of National Stadium, Surulere in Lagos.

Team Nigeria won 27 gold, 27 silver and 22 bronze medals at the three-day championship.

Cameroon, Togo, Benin, Madagascar, Senegal, Cote dI’Voire, Guinea Conakry, Somalia and Niger were among other countries that took part in the competition.

Tobi Amusan has won Africa’s first ever 100 meters Hurdles World Championships Gold Medal at the 2022 World Athletics Championships.

Tobi Amusan on the last day of the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Oregon became Africa’s first ever GOLD medallist in the women’s 100 meters Hurdles.

For the second consecutive time on the day, she crosses the line in first place finish with a remarkable 12.06 seconds (+2.5m/s), which would have been her second World Record (WR) of the evening but for the excess wind.

Tobi erased Kendra Harrison’s former 100m Hurdles WR of 12.20 seconds set in 2016 and replacing it with an astonishing 12.12s to win the first semifinal race in the event on the last day of the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Oregon.

Asisat Lamina Oshoala Named CAF 2022 African Footballer Of The Year For A Record 5th Time (Women)

Asisat Lamina Oshoala has been named the Confederation of African Football (CAF) 2022 African Footballer of the Year for a record fifth time (in the women category).

She received the award at the CAF ceremony held in Rabat, Morrocco on 21 July, 2022.

She is the first ever player to win five African footballer of the year award (2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022).

Ajax Amsterdam Signs Calvin Bassey From Rangers In Club Record Deal

Ajax Amsterdam has signed 22-year-old Calvin Bassey, a defender from Rangers FC in a club record deal for EUR 23 million for five seasons, until June 30, 2027.

Including variables, that amount could increase to EUR 26.5 million.

The deal is the largest in Rangers’ history.

Ese Brume has emerged winner of the women’s long jump event with a 6.92 meters jump (0.0) , which is a season best at the 2022 CITIUS Meeting in Bern.

She earned her victory over the rest of the field as Assani Mikaele was 2nd with 6.45 meters while Diana Lesti was 3rd with 6.27 meters.
