Six Nigerians have emerged winners of the 2025 International Best Reviewer Awards organised by the International Journal of Scientific Research and Modern Technology (IJSRMT).
The journal, globally indexed in international reputable research database systems like Google Scholar, Crossref, PlumX Metrics (Elsevier), and ResearchGate, has become a hub for high-impact, multidisciplinary research, with proven citation strength and a rapidly rising reputation in fields including artificial intelligence (AI), energy systems, industrial engineering, cybersecurity, finance, biotechnology, and sustainable development.
These awards celebrate peer-review excellence, which highlights scholars who uphold research rigour, strengthen editorial quality and enrich global academic standards.
Among this year’s elite winners of the 2025 International Best Reviewer Awards is Onuh Ijiga, an environmental physicist and technology innovator researching at the Department of Physics, Joseph Sarwnan Tarka University, Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria.
He emerged as the Overall Best Reviewer Award Winner in June 2025. Ijiga’s career reflects over a decade of interdisciplinary expertise spanning industrial physics, environmental modeling, cybersecurity, and renewable energy.
“Peer review is the backbone of credible science. For me, contributing to global knowledge means ensuring research is ethical, reproducible, and forward-looking. This recognition motivates me to continue pushing scientific boundaries and strengthening Nigeria’s footprint in world research.”
Another Nigerian honoree is Uchenna Ogbuonyalu, who won the Most Constructive Feedback Reviewer Award — March 2025. With nearly a decade of high-level experience advising global institutions, including Goldman Sachs, Deloitte UK, and PwC, Uche has demonstrated exceptional leadership in systemic risk governance, capital-market stability, and institutional audit innovation. Her academic background includes an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business, Virginia, USA, one of the world’s top-ranked programs.
She said:
“Rigorous peer review protects global markets and strengthens trust in financial systems. I am passionate about helping emerging-market research meet global regulatory and analytic standards, and IJSRMT provides an influential platform for that mission.”
Also recognised is a British Nigerian Kehinde Abiodun, who also received the Overall Best Reviewer Award in March 2025. A first-class graduate of Covenant University and Wall Street finance professional at Evercore, New York, USA, Kehinde is notable for his leadership in digital-infrastructure investment and AI-driven financial modeling.
Kehimde said:
“Peer review sharpens innovation. When reviewers critically refine ideas, we strengthen global research standards and ensure technology evolves responsibly.”
In the same cycle, Esther Alaka was named Most Active Reviewer — June 2025. Esther currently serves as a Senior Associate at JPMorgan Chase, United States, where she applies machine learning to modern financial transparency and operational risk systems.
She said:
“My work in peer review is rooted in a commitment to truth and quality. Whether in finance or research, clarity and evidence-driven insight are essential for societal progress.”
Meanwhile, Opeoluwa Judo earned recognition for Precision and Clarity in Peer Review — June 2025. Her scientific background includes research into bio-nutrition systems and poultry-growth physiology, particularly through her thesis on Moringa oleifera’s effect on intestinal microbiota and growth in broilers.
Judo said:
“Clarity in peer review ensures that authors refine their research rigorously. It contributes to safer food science, better agricultural systems, and stronger innovation for society.”
Speaking about the significance of these awards, the Editor-in-Chief of IJSRMT commended the Nigerian scholars for raising international standards in peer review.
He said:
“Nigeria continues to produce exceptional minds contributing to global knowledge.”
