RecyclePoints Emerge Top 3 Winner Of 2018 Zambezi Prize For Innovation In Financial Inclusion

South Africa’s Wala, Nigeria’s RecyclePoints and Kenya’s Tulaa have emerged top three winners in the 2018 Zambezi Prize for innovation in financial inclusion.

The award was organised by the Legatum Center for Development and Entrepreneurship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), with support from the Mastercard Foundation.

Crop2cash has emerged overall winner of the 2018 First City Monument Bank (FCMB) and Wennovation Hub Agritech Demo Day.

Nigeria Wins ICC U-19 World Cup Qualifier Africa Division Two Title [2018]

Nigeria’s junior national cricket team emerge winner of the International Cricket Council, ICC U-19 World Cup Qualifier Africa Division Two title at the Senwes Park, in Potchefstroom, South Africa.

Nigeria defeated Sierra Leone at the finals by 137 runs and triumphed over Tanzania in one of the semifinals to qualify for the 2020 ICC World Cup. It also earned the team promotion to the Division One cadre.

Nigerian Prisons Service Wins 2018 UNESCO Confucius Prize For Literacy

The Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS) has emerged winner of the 2018 UNESCO Confucius Prize for Literacy due to an education for prisoners programme being run by the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).

The Nigerian Prisons Service (NPS), which was selected as one of the five winners of this year’s prize, got the laurel in recognition of its innovative literacy programme of equipping prisoners with useful skills and professions to facilitate income generation upon discharge and discourage future crime.

Winners of the prize are awarded a silver medal, a diploma and US$20,000 prize money, as well as a trip to the birthplace of Confucius.

Lotachi Ugwunwa Onyemenam Emerge Best Graduating Student Of University of Cape Coast (UCC) [2018]

Lotachi Ugwunwa Onyemenam has emerged the best graduating student of University of Cape Coast (UCC) in Ghana receiving a record 15 out of 21 awards.

Some of the awards received by Lotachi Ugwunwa Onyemenam are the vice-chancellor of UCC prize for the overall best performance, Ghana Medical Association best student, Cape Coast Teaching Hospital prize for the best student among others.

The other awards went to Akorfa Ama Wotordzor who received five awards with the remainder going to Amanda Naa Atwei Bruce-Adjei.
