Tobore Ovuorie has won the Deutsche Welle (DW) Freedom of Speech Award 2021 for her undercover investigative report on criminal syndicates involved in prostitution, human traffickers and organ trading in Nigeria.
Zainab Bala of Nigeria and Bernadette Vivuya of Congo have emerged winners of the 2021 Michael Elliott Award for Excellence in African Storytelling.
Zainab Bala, a broadcast reporter who exposed pernicious child neglect in Nigeria, and Bernadette Vivuya, a multimedia journalist who uncovered child labor in mines in the Democratic Republic of Congo, emerged winners of the award after a distinguished panel of judges selected the winners from among 130 applicants.
Temi Adebayo has won the International Photography Award of the British Journal of Photography (BJP) Award 2020.
His photograph captioned; ‘Hu:Man’, was selected as part of the award-winning photographs of the year 2020, which will be exhibited at the Seen Fifteen Gallery in London, UK, from April 30 to May 22, 2021.
