Tolulope Olukokun, Bilkisu Graba-Dallo and Adejoke Lasisi have been rewarded by Sweden and Eleven Eleven Twelve Foundation at the 2020 African Green Award Boot Camp.

The Africa Green Grant is an initiative to promote the sustainability of the environment by supporting African youth in the designing and implementation of their ideas. The Awards are for young innovators in Africa and it seeks to encourage them and spur more youths to action.

Olukayode Paul Oluwadare, has been awarded the 2020 Global Animal Welfare Award by the World Veterinary Association (WVA) and Ceva Santé Animale.

Olukayode Paul Oluwadare who is Chief Animal Health Technologist at the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Ibadan, is the author of 14 textbooks addressing topics in animal health and welfare and is a leading exponent of animal welfare delivery in Nigeria.

The African Centre of Excellence for the Genomics of Infectious Disease (ACEGID), Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, has been named one of the regional repository and bioinformatics centres by the WHO and Africa CDC to provide sequencing, data analysis and other technical support services to the countries where they are located as well as to neighbouring countries and countries in their sub-regions.

This development was announced on Thursday, September 10, by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) through a press release announcing the launch of a network of laboratories to reinforce genome sequencing of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the virus that causes COVID-19, in Africa.

Runcie Chidebe has been named recipient of the 2020 Distinguished Advocacy Award by the International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS) during its annual global award on cancer and gynecology.

Others include:

• Lifetime achievement awardees – Monica Bacon (Canada) and Dr. Nicoletta Colombo (Italy)
• Excellence in Teaching awardee – Dr. Rahel Ghebre (USA)
• Distinguished advocacy awardee – Dr. Nathalie Dauphin McKenzie (USA/Haiti)
• 2020 IJGC award recipients – Dr. Gloria Salvo (Most Downloaded Paper Award) and Dr. David Cibula (Editor’s Choice Award) will receive the journal awards.

These award recipients will be recognized at the upcoming xDigital Annual Global Meeting of the International Gynecologic Cancer Society, which will be held in a fully digital setting this September 10-13, 2020.

The Awards Ceremony will take place during the Opening Ceremony on September 10th at 2:00 p.m. UCT.
