Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has been named a Special Envoy for the newly inaugurated Access to COVID-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

She is to serve alongside British business executive, Andrew Witty, in the same capacity, to mobilise international commitment to the initiative.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Named Member Of International Monetary Fund (IMF) New External Advisory Group

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has been named a member of the External Advisory Group constituted by the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva.

The group of prominent individuals from around the world are to serve as the IMF chief’s special advisers that would provide insights to enhance the fund’s ability to serve its membership.

They consist mainly of high-level technocrats and policy experts with private sector experience.

The new external advisory group, inaugurated on the 10th of April 2020 in Washington DC, is to also provide perspectives from around the globe on key developments and policy issues.

Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Named 2020 Angelopoulos Global Public Leaders Fellow At Harvard Kennedy School

Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, a former finance minister of Nigeria and former managing director of the World Bank, has been named the next Angelopoulos Global Public Leaders Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School.

The announcement was made on the 3rd of February 2020 by Harvard Kennedy School Dean Douglas Elmendorf. Dr. Okonjo-Iweala begins her fellowship this month (February 2020).

David Adeyemi Emerges First Nigerian And African Appointee Of The World Student Organisation

22-year-old David Adeyemi has become the first Nigerian and African appointee of the World Student Organisation.

David Adeyemi was appointed as the Nigeria Country Director for World Student Organization, after beating over 11,000 other African innovators.

He had record breaking scores in all the assessments he was put through during the interview period.

Amina Mohammed Wins Inaugural Global Citizen World Leader Award

Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed along with three others have been awarded with the World Leader Prize at the inaugural Global Citizen Prize award ceremony at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Amina Mohammed, is among the four winners of the 2019 Global Citizen Prize honoured along with popular musician Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner (Sting), film maker Richard Curtis and founder/CEO of Chobani, Hamdi Ulukaya.

Nigeria Donates Relief Materials To Mozambique And Zimbabwe Flood Victims [2019]

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has declared that it has completed the airlifting of relief materials to Mozambique and Zimbabwe to further assist victims of the massive flooding that affected some communities in the countries in April 2019.

NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, disclosed this in a statement on the 31st of August 2019.

Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola explained that the airlift missions were conducted for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
