Udodi Onwuzurike has made his debut as a professional athlete, opening up his season at the 2024 Pure Athletics Spring Invitational in Florida and clocking a time of 20.13 seconds (1.9) to win the men’s 200 meters.

With this time, he has qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics as he defeated Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake who was second in 20.40 seconds and Jona Efoloko in 20.44 seconds.

Closest to them was Aleksandr Gerasimov, who jumped 2.12 meters.

On the women’s side, Temitope Adeshina placed second with 1.88 meters behind Lamara Distin, winner with 1.91 meters.

He defeated Brandon Harris who was second in 10.11 seconds and Chris Royster in 10.16 seconds. The women’s race went to Elo Blessing Okpah in 11.32 seconds (2.8).

Stephen Eloji has won the men’s 110mH at the 2024 Outdoor City Music Challenge in Nashville, clocking a time of 13.55 seconds (1.0) to win.

He defeated Daryl Okeke, who was a far second in 13.99 seconds, while Vince Flegeance was third in 14.32 seconds.

Eloji has been the fastest Nigerian man in the event since 2023, and this performance makes him only the third Nigerian man this millennium to run at least 13.5 in back-to-back years!
