Yemisi Olatunji & Sodiq Taiwo Win OTrafford PSA National Closed Satellite Squash Tournament 2018

Yemisi Olatunji and Sodiq Taiwo have emerged winners of the OTrafford PSA National Closed Satellite Squash Tournament 2018 at the 82 Division of the Army Officers Mess, Marina, Lagos.

Yemisi defeated her younger sister Busayo 11-7, 11-8, 11-3 to win the OTrafford PSA National Closed Satellite Squash Tournament women’s title.

In the men’s final, Sodiq Taiwo, who defeated top player Lanre Abdulrahman in the semi-final, bounced back after losing the first set to defeat a hard-fighting Idowu Enemakure 12-14, 11-1, 11-6, 11-8.

The winner of the male category Sodiq received $1,000 for his effort while Yemisi got $500.

The Chairman of OTrafford Squash Club, Aderemi Adeseun, while presenting the winners with their awards, urged all other squash clubs to organise more PSA sanctioned tournaments to enable Nigerian squash players amass ranking points.

Anuoluwapo Opeyori & Dorcas Adesokan Win 2018 Rivers Governor’s Badminton Championship

Anuoluwapo Opeyori and Dorcas Adesokan emerge champions in the men and women’s singles categories respectively of the Rivers Governor’s Badminton Championship, held at the Alfred Diette Spiff Civic Centre in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The pair of Enejoh Abah and Peace Orji won the men’s mixed doubles event after defeating Yunusa Momoh and Ramatu Yakubu 2-0 (21-17, 21-6), while Jimka Ifraimu and Ola Fagbemi overcame Clement Korobakpo and Isaac Minaphee 2-1 (20-22, 17-21, 23-21).

Anuoluwapo Opeyori and Dorcas Adesokan receive the top prize money of 300,000 after emerging winners.

Total prize money of 7.02 million was at stake at the championship, which is a new height in the history of badminton in the country.

Winners Of 2018 Lagos All Sail Boat Race

Winners have emerged at the maiden Lagos All Sail Boat Race in three water racing categories of rowing, jeskying and boat racing.

The 2018 Lagos All Sail Boat Race kicked off at the BICS Jetty venue of the Championship in Lekki, Lagos with a horde of skilled rowers from the 36 states of the federation including the FCT, Abuja taking to the waters to compete.

Georgia Oboh Becomes Full Member Of Ladies European Tour (LET)

Georgia Oboh becomes a full member of the Ladies European Tour (LET) and thereby is the first and youngest Nigerian to accomplish the historic feat.

The 17-year-old carded 72 on the fourth day of the LET Qualifying School at the Lalla Aicha Tour School at Amelkis Golf Club in Casablanca, Morocco to make the top 60 from the field of 115 competing at the Q –School.

The qualification will accord her with playing privileges for the 2019 season.

Team Nigeria Wins 2018 Africa Schools Badminton Championship

Team Nigeria has emerged champion of the 2018 Africa Schools Badminton Championship, in Tema, Ghana.

The nine players that represented Nigeria at the event are Rufai Saddam Sidi, Daniel Christopher Egbonyi, Khalil Safana Shamsuddeen, Umar Ahmad Balarabe and Bankole Babatunde Timileyin in the male category, while Obanishola Sofiat Arinola, Obasanmi Christianah Olajumoke, Taofik Ganiyat Romoke and Mosun Shogbade represented the country in the female category.

Team Delta State Emerge Overall Winner Of 19th National Sports Festival

Team Delta State has emerged the overall winner of the 19th National Sports Festival held between December 6-16, 2018 at the National Stadium Abuja.

Team Delta won 163 gold medals, 88 silver and 101 bronze medals to beat the other participating teams.
