Lagos State University (LASU) Wins Inaugural African Students Football Union (ASFU) Tournament

The male football team of Lagos State University (LASU) has emerged champions at the inaugural African Students Football Union (ASFU) 2019 tournament.

The male football team of the school won the University for Development Studies (UDS), Ghana (a West African University Games, WAUG champion) 1-0 in the final match at the Adamasingba Stadium, Ibadan, Oyo State on January 27, 2019.

Following the victory, LASU represents Africa at the World Universities Football Competition which is to hold in Russia later in the year.

Bayelsa Queens Emerge 2017/2018 Nigeria Women Premier League Champions

Bayelsa Queens Football Club of Yenagoa have emerged the Nigeria Women Premier League champions for the 2017/2018 season after defeating Nasarawa Amazons 2-0 at the Agege Stadium on Sunday, 27th of January 2019 in the final of the Super 4 Play off.

This is coming 11 years after an elusive chase for the title by the club (Bayelsa Queens).

Isaac Matthew from Kaduna State and Elizabeth Nuhu from the Nigerian Custom Service, Abuja have emerged overall winners of the inaugural Tito Makurdi Marathon Road Race in the male and female categories respectively.

Isaac Matthew came first in 1 hour 41 minutes while Elizabeth Nuhu emerged winner in 1 hour 56 minutes.

Team Nigeria Women Win 2018 Camtel International Beach Volleyball Championship

Nigeria’s women beach volleyball team defeated Cameroon 2-0 to win the gold medal at the Camtel International Beach Volleyball Championship, which ended in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

The pair of Tochukwu Nnourge and Francisca Ikhiede emerged victorious over their Cameroonian counterparts 21-14, 21-13 in the female category of the beach volleyball competition.

In the male category, Team Nigeria lost 2-1 (19-21, 21-16, 15-11) to Central Africa Republic in an intriguing final encounter.

First Bank Basketball Club Wins Zenith Women Basketball League 2018

First Bank Basketball Club emerge winner of the  Zenith Bank Women Basketball League title 2018 at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos.

First Bank Basketball Club defeated Dolphins by 84 to 66 points, winning all the four quarters of the game to retain the Zenith Bank Women Basketball League title with Nkem Akaraiwe declared as the most valuable player.

Team Nigeria Emerge Champion At Puma ITF Wheelchair Tennis Futures 2018

Alex Adewale and Kafayat Omisore have emerged champions of the men’s and women’s singles of the Puma ITF Wheelchair Tennis Futures 2018 in Abuja.

Adewale, a London 2012 Paralympian defeated Kenyan top seed, Peter Naveh 6-1, 6-0 while Omisore also got the better of Jane Ndenga of Kenya 6-3, 7-6 (3).

The duo of Alex Adewale and Wasiu Yusuf won the doubles final with a comprehensive 6-1, 6-0 scoreline over Peter Naveh and Collins Omonde of Kenya while Kafayat Omisore paired Kemi Oluwasegun to beat Kenya’s Jane Ndenga who partnered homegirl Foluke Shodehinde to clinch the women’s doubles title.
