Folashade Alice Oluwafemiayo claimed Nigeria’s third gold medal in powerlifting in the women’s 86 kg category with new World and Paralympics records.
She also broke her former world record set in Manchester on March 28, 2021, with her second lift of 151 kg. Oluwafemiayo then went on to set a new Paralympic record after lifting 152 kg on August 30, 2021.
32-year-old Bose Omolayo has set a new Paralympics record in powerlifting at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games in Japan.
Bose Omotayo claimed Nigeria’s second gold medal in powerlifting in the women’s 79kg category with a new Paralympics record after she lifted 141 kg.

Team Nigeria’s U-20 track and field athletes have re-written the history of Nigeria’s participation at the 2021 World Athletics Under-20 championships after finishing third on the medals table with an unprecedented haul of four gold and three bronze medals.
The highest Nigeria has ended on the medals table prior to the just-ended event in Nigeria was her seventh-place finish at the third edition of the championships in 1990 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria where they won two gold, two silver and two bronze medals.
