Deborah Olatunji Wins 2019 National Travel Essay Competition

Deborah Olatunji, a student of Holy Saviour College, Isolo, has won the 10th edition of the National Travel Essay Competition (NTEC 2019).

In line with its policy to support youth empowerment, education and excellence among Nigerian youngsters, EgyptAir has rewarded the commitment and hard work of Miss Deborah Olatunji, with a free ticket to Dubai for winning. The airline also presented a second free ticket to the parent or guardian of the winner in order to allow her travel to Dubai together with any family member of her choice.

The District Manager of EgyptAir in Nigeria, Mr. Muharram Abdelrahman, presented the tickets to Miss Olatunji in the company of her aunt, Dr. Ayodeji Adewakun, in his office.

Mr. Muharram Abdelrahman said:

“EgyptAir is an airline that believes strongly in securing the future of the younger generation because we believe they are the leaders of tomorrow. Winners Of 2019 West Africa Media Excellence Awards (WAMECA)

Winners have emerged at the 2019 West Africa Media Excellence Awards (WAMECA) held on the 19th of October 2019 in Accra, Ghana.

The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), had announced a shortlist of 21 finalists from six African countries.

All 21 WAMECA finalists got Certificates of Merit while ultimate winners received plaques, certificates and cash prizes.

According to the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA):

“All 21 finalists will also be inducted as fellows of the MFWA’s Journalism for Change Network and will be offered regular training opportunities both locally and internationally to enhance their capacity to influence positive change in society through journalism.”

Zamani College Wins 2019 Association Of Nigerian Geographers Nigeria Geography Quiz

Zamani College Kaduna emerged winner of Nigeria’s Geography quiz was organised by the Association of Nigerian Geographers.

Presenting the trophy to the school during the 60th National Conference of the association held at Kaduna State University (KASU), Professor Adamu Idris Tanko said the school also won a cash prize of 100,000.

Zamani College Kaduna will represent Nigeria at the International Geography Quiz Competition scheduled to take place in Istanbul, Turkey.

Ikponmwosa Kingsley Osamede Wins 2019 NESG-NUC Essay Competition

Ikponmwosa Kingsley Osamede, a medical student at the University of Benin (UNIBEN) has emerged winner of the national essay competition organised by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) and the National Universities Commission (NUC).

The award ceremony held at Transcorp Hilton Abuja, where Ikponmwosa Kingsley Osamede was presented with the award by the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun.

The essay competition is a part of activities for the 25th anniversary of the 2019 Nigeria Economic Summit (NES) tagged Nigeria 2050: Shifting Gears organised to set agenda for Nigeria in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Jude Idada Wins NLNG 2019 Nigeria Prize For Literature

Jude Idada with his work ‘Boom Boom’ has won the Nigeria Prize for Literature, sponsored by Nigeria LNG Limited, for the 2019 cycle on Children’s Literature.

The book edged out ‘Mysteries at Ebenezer’s Lodge’ by Dunni Olatunde and ‘The Great Walls of Benin’ by O.T. Begho entries in the shortlist of three, to clinch the prize.

‘Boom Boom’ by Jude Idada had competed against 173 books submitted for the competition in March 2019 to win the $100,000 cash prize reward.

Kafayat Omolara Sanni & Tolulope Arotile Emerge NAF First Female Fighter Pilot And First Female Helicopter Pilot

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has decorated its first female fighter pilot, Flying Officer Kafayat Omolara Sanni, and the first female helicopter pilot, Flying Officer Tolulope Arotile.

They were the two female pilots among the 13 that were winged.

The two female pilots had successfully completed their pilot training courses in the United States of America and South Africa.

The Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar decorated them alongside another officer Grace Garba, the first female Air Warrant Officer, and 10 0ther officers at the NAF headquarters in Abuja on the 15th of October 2019.
