Winners have emerged at the 2021 International Banker Awards (Africa), which was announced on May 31, 2021.

The International Banker Awards 2021 are established to recognise top-ranking individuals and organisations setting new benchmarks for performance and pushing the boundaries within the financial industry.

According to the International Banker on the 2021 International Banker Awards:

“By dividing the global banking industry into geographic regions and specializations, International Banker adopts a laser-focused approach to providing recognition where it is due. A good bank is defined by its differences. It will not be exactly the same as the other because it will be shaped by the needs and demands of its own unique customers.”

“Eyimofe” Wins Best Feature Narrative At 2021 BlackStar Film Festival

Nigerian feature film Eyimofe (This Is My Desire) has emerged Best Feature Narrative at the 2021 BlackStar Film Festival.

The Best Experimental Film award went to Letter From Your Far-Off Country directed by Suneil Sanzgiri.

Dear Philadelphia by Renee Maria Osubu and Elena Michèle Stephenson won Best Short Documentary, while award for Best Short Narrative went to Lizard by Akinola Davies Jr.

Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh’s Writing With Fire won the Best Feature Documentary award.

“Eyimofe” Wins Jury Award At 11th World Cinema Amsterdam Competition

Nigerian feature film, Eyimofe (This Is My Desire) has emerged winner of the Jury Award at the 11th edition of the World Cinema Amsterdam Competition, in the Netherlands.

In their debut film, twin brothers Arie and Chuko Esiri painted a realistic portrait of everyday life in Nigeria’s largest city, Lagos, by telling the stories of the fortunes of two of its inhabitants, who both dream of a fresh start in Europe. And members of the World Cinema jury chose the GDN Studios-produced film as the winner of the World Cinema Amsterdam’s biggest prize.

For emerging winners of the Jury Award, the Esiri brothers not only received the award, they also received a cash prize of €5,000 for a future film project.

Odutola Gloria Ekene has emerged winner of the Teachers Naija Season 2 Reality TV Show organised by Anub Media Limited in collaboration with the Nigeria Federal Ministry of Education.

Odutola Gloria Ekene received a cash prize of two (2) million Naira, a 2-bedroom apartment, a post-graduate scholarship, and an all expense paid trip to an exotic location.

Similarly, Faremi Mary Oluwabukola, first runner-up received ₦1.5 million, while Oyin-Adejobi Morayo, second runner-up went home with one million Naira.

Team Nigeria Triumphs At 2021 World Athletics Under-20 Championships

Team Nigeria’s U-20 track and field athletes have re-written the history of Nigeria’s participation at the 2021 World Athletics Under-20 championships after finishing third on the medals table with an unprecedented haul of four gold and three bronze medals.

The highest Nigeria has ended on the medals table prior to the just-ended event in Nigeria was her seventh-place finish at the third edition of the championships in 1990 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria where they won two gold, two silver and two bronze medals.

The four gold medals won at the just ended championships in Nairobi, Kenya is the highest Nigeria has won, two more than the country has ever won in any edition of the championships.
