Barakat Adeoti has emerged the winner of the Real Act of Kindness Development Foundation (RAK) 2020 COVID-19 essay competition for secondary schools in Badagry, Lagos State.

17-year-old girl, Barakat Adeoti, a student of Araromi Ilogbo Senior Secondary School, Oko-Afo, won the final round of the RAK COVID-19 Essay Competition held on the 1st of July [2020] at Ajara Vetho, Badagry.

The competition was organised by a Non-Governmental Organisation, Real Act of Kindness Development Foundation.

Victor Osimhen Wins 2020 Marc-Vivien Foe Prize In French Ligue 1 [2019/2020]

Victor Osimhen has emerged winner of the 2020 Marc-Vivien Foe prize, which crowns him as the best African player in French Ligue 1 for the 2019/2020 season.

The 21-year-old forward who scored 18 goals and recorded six assists in 38 appearances across all competitions during the campaign, becomes the youngest ever recipient of the Marc-Vivien Foe prize.

Named after late Cameroonian midfielder Marc-Vivien Foe, the late Cameroon and Olympique Lyonnais midfielder — twice an Africa Cup of Nations winner with the Indomitable Lions, passed away on the field during the 2003 Confederations Cup.

This yearly award is organized by Radio France International and France 24 to celebrate African players plying their trade in the French League.

Miss Maduafokwa Egoagwuagwu Agnes emerged as the candidate with the highest score of 365 out of 400.

She is the President of the Maths Club, and the 1st Assistant Head Girl of Louisville Girls High School Ijebu-Itele in Ogun State.

She wants to study Engineering, where she can apply mathematical concepts in solving societal challenges.

She wrote her UTME on March 14th 2020 in St Michael Otedola Education Centre in Epe, Lagos State.

Miss Maduafokwa Egoagwuagwu Agnes scored 72 in Use of English, 99 in Mathematics, 99 in Physics and 95 in Chemistry 95.

Miss Maduafokwa Egoagwuagwu applied to study Industrial Production Engineering at the prestigious University of Ibadan, Oyo State.

WHO Certifies Wild Polio Virus Free Status Of Nigeria

The World Health Organization (WHO) has certified Nigeria as free of wild polio, following the completion of documentation for the free status.

Polio is a viral disease, that is transmitted from person to person, mainly through a faecal-oral route or, less frequently, through contaminated water or food, and multiplies inside the intestines.

There is no cure for polio, but the disease can be prevented through administration of a simple and effective vaccine. That is why efforts are underway across every country to rapidly boost immunity levels in children and protect them from polio paralysis.
