Winners Of 2020 Her Network ‘Woman of the Year’ Awards

Twelve winners have emerged in the 2020 Her Network ‘Woman of the Year’ Awards, which honours outstanding women across different sectors in Nigeria.

Previous years have seen Global Inspiration and Lifestyle Platform, Her Network call for public nominations before announcing nominees and then, recipients at the annual awards ceremony but for the 4th edition of the awards, which has been tagged “Her Special Year” by the organization, public nominations were shelved and honorees were selected based on recommendations from the HNWOTY Alumni & Advisory Board Members based on the level of impact.

The selected 2020 Her Network honorees have through their work, in their respective fields and sectors, manifested admirable zeal and tenacity and have made a significant impact in their network, community, or workplace.

Snow George Wins 2020 MTN mPulse Spelling Bee Competition

15-year-old Snow George of Starville School, Abuja has emerged winner of the 2020 MTN mPulse Spelling Bee competition.

Snow George received a two million Naira scholarship, a laptop, smartphone and mPulse goody bag.

The competition, which commenced in October 2020 witnessed participation from over 16,000 children aged 9-15 across the country.

Snow George emerged winner at a keenly contested finale recently in the final round, over Ansel Ifelaja of MasterHill College with the correct spelling of the word “Doraphobia”.

Winners Of USAfBC & ABC Nigeria Inaugural Digital Innovation Awards

The American Business Council (ABC Nigeria) and the US Chamber of Commerce’s US-Africa Business Center (USAfBC) has awarded three Nigeria-based startups with its inaugural Digital Innovation Awards.

The three startups include: an education technology platform, Afrilearn International; “Lend an Arm” platform, a startup that increases voluntary blood donation in Nigeria, Healthbotics Limited while the third is a platform that addresses the chronic shortage of phytotherapy treatment for jaundiced-born babies with its “Crib A’glow” unit, Tiny Hearts Technology.

They were recognized as digital innovators that are positively impacting job-creation and pandemic recovery.
