2026 Under-17 Women World Cup: Nigeria Qualifies For First Final

The Nigerian under-17 women have advanced to the 2026 under-17 Women World Cup final for the first time after defeating Brazil 3-1 in the semi-final.

Queen Joseph scored the opener before Awawu Bashiru’s brace sealed the impressive win.

Joseph slotted home from four yards to put Akeem Busari’s side ahead, and the lead was doubled in the 71st minute through Bashiru’s lofted cross that sailed over the goalkeeper into the net.

She sealed the win ten minutes from time with a well-placed finish at the near post to send Nigerian fans and officials into jubilation.

Greise Kelly netted Brazil’s consolation on 89 minutes as Nigeria celebrated a first-ever win against the South Americans as they reached the final in Morocco. It is the first time an African nation will reach the final of the tournament, and Nigeria is set to break its bronze medal feat of 2022.

The Nigerian Flamingos will play Japan, who defeated favourites Korea DPR in the other semi-final.

The final match of the 2026 under-17 Women World Cup will take place on November 7, 2026.
