Nigerian Stories: National Cake, Personal Person & Six-To-Six By Orere Ewomazino Praise

 SIX – TO – SIX

Right from when Tolu was young, his mother never failed to give the family the best in terms of food. But of all these nutricious meals she prepared for the family on a daily basis, Tolu had come to fall so much in love with the local Yoruba dish called ‘fufu’ or ‘six-to-six’ as some people would call it, and vegetable soup. The main reason he loved fufu was because it was very filling, hence the nickname six-to-six meaning it is believed that it can fill your stomach from 6am to 6pm. What a dish!

PERSONAL PERSON

David and Vincent have been best friends for more than ten years now, and it might surprise you how this long lasting friendship started. They met at a restaurant in Asaba where they actually ordered the exact same meal and by coincidence were on the same table. It was like a friendship meant to be, a match made in heaven. They were both surprised, and their surprise instigated the conversation between them. Since then, the relationship has grown stronger and they still love to eat together. Vincent in particular tags David as his ‘Personal Person’.

Obi after hearing this and shouted “Me I wan chop national cake o!” Their Mum quickly replied, ‘so you wan to be embezzling funds abi?’ The boys burst into laughter.
