Dr. Kudus Adebayo has emerged winner of the 2020 Institute of African and Diaspora Studies (IADS) Rahamon Bello Award for Best PhD thesis in African and Diaspora Studies.

Professor Muyiwa Falaiye, Director, Institute of African and Diaspora Studies (IADS), University of Lagos announced the award on November 30, 2020 in a Zoom meeting.

Eshiet Abasiekeme Wins 2020 UBA Foundation National Essay Competition

14-year-old Eshiet Abasiekeme of Bright Stars Model Secondary School, Akwa Ibom state has emerged the overall winner of the 2020 edition of the UBA Foundation National Essay Competition.

Eshiet Abasiekeme received an educational grant of ₦2.5 million to study in any African university of her choice. She will also be supported throughout her educational career and beyond with constant mentoring by the UBA Foundation.

The second prize was awarded to 14-year-old Mofuluwake Adesanya of Spring Forte-Lead College Lagos State, who won a ₦2,000,000 educational grant, whilst the third prize of ₦1,500,000 went to Abdulganiyy Habeeba, 16 years old. Abdulganiyy attends the International School, University of Lagos.

James-Ibe Akunna Wins 2020 African Organisation For Standardisation (ARSO) Essay Competition [Nigeria]

James-Ibe Akunna has emerged the national winner of the 2020 African Organisation for Standardisation (ARSO) essay competition [Nigeria].

A statement from the office of the Director General, Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Mallam Farouk Salim named the winners as James-Ibe Akunna who came tops with 66.31 percent, Eze Harrison Ebuka, 65.50 percent and Eze Samson Somtochukwu 65.47 percent. The top three students are of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).

Two other essays from Evan-Ibe S. Sobechi and Offor O. Christopher completed the five entries presented by Nigeria to ARSO for the continental competition.

Oluwabunmi Anani Wins 2020 Maltina Teacher Of The Year Award

Oluwabunmi Anani has emerged winner of the 2020 Maltina Teacher of the Year Award organised by Nigeria Breweries through its flagship malt brand Maltina.

Oluwabunmi Anani, an English language teacher with Concordia College, Jimeta, Yola, Adamawa State received a total cash prize of 6.5 million Naira and capacity training abroad while a block of classrooms will be built for her school.

The winners were announced on October 16, 2020 at the grand finale of the 2020 Maltina Teacher of the year award ceremony event at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Winners Of Poets Factory World Poetry Day Competition 2020

Winners have emerged in the inaugural edition of the Poets Factory World Poetry Day Competition in commemoration of World Poetry Day on March 21st.

The winners announced by Toluwani Obayan (daughter of former Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University; Lt. Professor Aize Obayan of blessed memory) are: 2nd runner up – Ehi Mark from Chrisland School Opebi, 1st runner up – Odinchezo Igboekwere from Victory Home School Ikeja, and the overall winner of the poetry competition went to Chinatu Nnodim from Canadian International School Surulere.

Among the awards received by the winner was the 1st place trophy, gold medal, certificate, free access to two Poem ebooks by Moyosola Olalekan, two hardcopy books, one-year scholarship into Poets Factory’s Virtual Poetry Club and an opportunity to be coached and mentored to write and publish a poem book in a year.
