Elusakin Agnes Iyabo And Adebiyi Abiola Temitayo Awarded 2019 Overall Best Teachers Award In Nigeria

Mrs. Elusakin Agnes Iyabo and Adebiyi Abiola Temitayo have emerged the 2019 overall best teachers in Nigeria at the 2019 World Teachers Day Celebration in Abuja.

Mrs. Elusakin Agnes Iyabo, a teacher of Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu, Lagos state, won the best teacher of the year 2019 award, in the public school category. She received the award along with a brand new Hyundai Sonata car gift from the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Mrs. Elusakin Agnes Iyabo said she has served in the teaching profession for 27 years, adding that the award will spur her into more hard work

Mr. Adebiyi Abiola Temitayo, a teacher of Varsity children grammar school, Ijebu ode, Ogun state, won the best teacher of the year 2019 award, in the private school category. He received the award along with a brand new Hyundai Accent car gift from the Federal Government of Nigeria.

A total of three cars, two buses were presented to various categories of winners by the Federal Government among the 24 awardees at the event.

Abiodun Jamiu Wins 2019 El-Critical Writing Contest

Abiodun Jamiu, a campus-life reporter at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) has won the 2019 El-Critical Writing contest as well as UDUS Pen Press Campus Journalist of the Year prize.

Abiodun Jamiu was presented his award at the 2019 Pen Press UDUS Day held at the institution.

The event was courtesy of a collaboration between Pen Press UDUS, one of the home-grown media outfits for students of UDUS and Ibrahim Jatto, an ex-CAMPUSLIFE reporter and award winning journalist.

The contest with the theme: “The making of a 21st century university” aimed at improving literacy in the north, especially among students. It is a yearly contest for students in Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states.

Deborah Olatunji Wins 2019 National Travel Essay Competition

Deborah Olatunji, a student of Holy Saviour College, Isolo, has won the 10th edition of the National Travel Essay Competition (NTEC 2019).

In line with its policy to support youth empowerment, education and excellence among Nigerian youngsters, EgyptAir has rewarded the commitment and hard work of Miss Deborah Olatunji, with a free ticket to Dubai for winning. The airline also presented a second free ticket to the parent or guardian of the winner in order to allow her travel to Dubai together with any family member of her choice.

The District Manager of EgyptAir in Nigeria, Mr. Muharram Abdelrahman, presented the tickets to Miss Olatunji in the company of her aunt, Dr. Ayodeji Adewakun, in his office.

Ezem Collins, a Civic Education and Christian Religious Studies teacher was declared winner of the prestigious honour at the grand finale held on October 18 [2019], at Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Zamani College Wins 2019 Association Of Nigerian Geographers Nigeria Geography Quiz

Zamani College Kaduna emerged winner of Nigeria’s Geography quiz was organised by the Association of Nigerian Geographers.

Presenting the trophy to the school during the 60th National Conference of the association held at Kaduna State University (KASU), Professor Adamu Idris Tanko said the school also won a cash prize of 100,000.

Zamani College Kaduna will represent Nigeria at the International Geography Quiz Competition scheduled to take place in Istanbul, Turkey.

Ikponmwosa Kingsley Osamede Wins 2019 NESG-NUC Essay Competition

Ikponmwosa Kingsley Osamede, a medical student at the University of Benin (UNIBEN) has emerged winner of the national essay competition organised by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) and the National Universities Commission (NUC).

The award ceremony held at Transcorp Hilton Abuja, where Ikponmwosa Kingsley Osamede was presented with the award by the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun.

The essay competition is a part of activities for the 25th anniversary of the 2019 Nigeria Economic Summit (NES) tagged Nigeria 2050: Shifting Gears organised to set agenda for Nigeria in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Zahrah Ibrahim Wins Inaugural European Drilling Engineering Association Drilling Engineering Innovation Award

Zahrah Ibrahim, a PhD student of the University of Aberdeen School of Engineering has won the inaugural European Drilling Engineering Association Drilling Engineering (DEA(e)) Innovation award.

The award, comes with 5,000 Euros cash prize and attendance at 2 DEA(e) meetings with paid travel and accommodation expenses.

All applications were reviewed based on their innovation, relevance to the DEA(e) and impact to the industry and the steering committee agreed that Zahrah’s presentation scored high in all three categories.
