Rosemary Chukwuma Sets New Records At 2022 Texas Tech Shootout

Rosemary Chukwuma has set new records at the 2022 Texas Tech Shootout after she ran 7.20 seconds in the 60 meters event on February 12, 2022.

The Texas Tech women’s school record in the 60 meters had stood for seven years. Five-time all-American Cierra White ran the 60 in a school-record time of 7.22 seconds at a meet in 2015.

On the first day of the Texas Tech Shootout, Chukwuma ran it in 7.21seconds in the first round of competition and then 7.20 seconds in the final.

NBA Opens First Floating Basketball Court In Africa [2022]

The National Basketball Association (NBA) Africa in partnership with Hennessy has launched the first basketball floating court in Africa when NBA Crossover tipped off at Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge in Lagos, Nigeria on February 4, 2022.

The floating court remained on display for the next two days, until the Crossover concluded at Lagos’ Landmark Beach at the immediate weekend.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports (NAN) that the final played at the Mambila Barracks on January 30, 2022 in Abuja saw Scorpion Spikers Volleyball Club defeat Karu United 3-0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-20) in the men’s category.

Scorpion Spikers Volleyball Club beat Defence Spikers 3-1 (25-19, 25-27, 25-23, 25-20) in the women’s category. NAN reports that Scorpion Spikers Volleyball Club organised the second edition of the three days Abuja Inter-club Volleyball Championship 2022 in collaboration with the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF).

Team Nigeria Emerge Champions Of Zone 3 Under-21 Beach Volleyball Championship In Boys & Girls Categories

Team Nigeria have emerged champions of the Zone 3 Under-21 Beach Volleyball Championship in the Boys’ and Girls’ categories held on January 30, 2022.

Nigeria defeated host, Benin Republic 2-0 (21-14, 21-17) in the Boys’ final while Nigeria defeated the first team of Benin Republic 2-0 (21-11, 21-13) in the Girls’ category.

The duo of Emenike Ezike and Emmanuel Udah represented Nigeria in the boys’ event while Happy Wushiland and Esther Mbah wore the colours of the country in the girls’ event.

Simidele Adeife Omonla Adeagbo has become the first African to win an international Sled race at the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) Women’s Monobob World Series [2022].

In the final at Winterberg, a winter resort town in Germany, Simidele beat her rivals to emerge winner in her event.

The 40-year-old recorded a time of 2:01 to emerge champion ahead of Romania’s Popescu Georgeta and Ukraine’s Hunko Lidiia.
