Chukwuebuka Enekwechi has emerged winner of the men’s Shot Put event at the 2023 Larry Wieczorek Invitational in Iowa City on January 20, 2023.
Chukwuebuka won with a Personal Best (PB) throw of 21.20 meters.
Roger Steen finished second with a best throw of 20.59 meters while T’Mond Johnson got third with a PB of 20.10 meters.
Last month at the 2022 National Sports Festival (NSF) in Asaba, Enekwechi broke a 36-year-old hammer national record throwing a distance of 67.45 meters to set a new games record.

The reigning African champion had a series of good throws, with four of his throws going over the 21 meters mark. His series was 20.47 meters, 21.20 meters, 21.04 meters, 21.08 meters, 20.61 meters, and 21.18 meters, while his previous PB was 21.09 meters.
