Ndagaba Baba Alhaji Receives Bob Freeman Humanitarian Award [2019]

Ndagaba Baba Alhaji and Dr. Paul Farmer have been awarded the Bob Freeman Humanitarian Award by the United Nations (UN).

Ndagaba Baba Alhaji has dedicated his life, according to the citation of his award, to “working to provide medical supplies and equipment to under-served communities across the African diaspora.”

Ndagaba’s humanitarian effort was inspired by the same he received from a Chicago hospital when he needed a heart surgery that would have costed him 180 million Naira.

Help came for him when the Advocate Christ Medical Center in Chicago operated on him for free and told him all he needed to pay back was to extend the same act of kindness to others.

Dr. Paul Farmer, a professor of Global Health and Social Medicine, Chair of the Harvard Medical School, and UN Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on Community-based Medicine.
