Team AirSync Win Hult Prize OAU On Campus Challenge 2020

Team AirSync have emerged overall winner of the Hult Prize Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) On Campus Challenge 2020 held on the 12th of November 2019 at the Institute for Entrepreneurship & Development Studies, Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria.

Team AirSync emerged as the winner of the On-Campus competition with their soon-to-launch idea of an air balloon device, which could almost at the speed of light detect oil spillage, leakage and vandalism within three kilometer (3 km) range and 5,000 feet (ft) above the ground.

Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) has performed its 47th successful kidney transplant.

Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital is a tertiary Government Teaching hospital located in Kano, Kano State, Nigeria. It was formerly known as Bayero University Teaching hospital.

The news of the 47th successful renal transplant was stated by Dr. Dalhat Salahu, an Anasthesiologist in the hospital, who was part of the renal team.

The Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) unveils locally produced mine resistant ambush protected vehicles named ‘Ezugwu’ and other armored vehicles designed to carry out insertion and extraction of troops, assault, counter-terrorism, delivery of high fire power and urban warfare.

The vehicles and equipment were unveiled during the Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference, which held in Kaduna on the 3rd of December 2019.

Winners Of 2019 Chief Of Naval Staff Under-14 Boys And Under-17 Girls Football Competition

Ekiti and Kwara states have won the 2019 Chief of Naval Staff Under-14 boys and Under-17 girls football competition held at the Liberty Stadium, Ibadan.

In entertaining finals, Ekiti state defeated Kwara state 1-0 to emerge winners in the boy’s category, while Kwara state got a redemption through their girls, who recorded a 5-3 penalty victory over Rivers State after their game had ended 1-1 at regulation time.

Adesewa Adeniyi Wins 2019 Nigerian Stock Exchange Essay Competition

Adesewa Adeniyi has won the first prize at the Nigerian Stock Exchange 2019 Essay Competition for Senior Secondary School students in Nigeria.

Adesewa Adeniyi, a student of Grandmates Schools in Isolo, Lagos, emerged winner ahead of 40,965 students across the country and was given 500,000 in scholarship fund for university education, 500,000 worth of equity investment and a laptop.

Her school was presented with three desktop computers and a printer.

Emmanuel Eze Wins 2019 ATAF Continental Tax Essay Competition

Emmanuel Eze has won the 2019 African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF)  continental tax essay competition among 132 other tax writers from across the African continent.

Emmanuel Eze, an official with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS, Nigeria) who received the award at the ATAF’s 10 years anniversary and the International Conference on Tax in Africa (ICTA) held in Kampala, Uganda submitted an entry titled: “Taxation Of Digital Economy And Africa’s Quest For Fiscal Justice: Challenges And The Need To Put Our Best Foot Forward.”

‘Our Water Our Right Campaign’ Wins Transformative Cities 2019 People’s Choice Award

The ‘Our Water Our Right Campaign’ spearheaded by the Environmental Rights Action/Friends of the Earth Nigeria (ERA/FoEN) has won the Transformative Cities 2019 People’s Choice Award in the water category.

The campaign, a grassroots-heavy initiative that amplifies the voice of community people, was launched in 2014 in Lagos to counter government’s plans to privatise the water sector.

It received the highest votes in the water category on the sidelines of the International Conference on ‘The Future is Public’ holding in Amsterdam, which also featured the energy, food and housing categories. Prior to the announcement, the eight finalists debated and discussed opportunities and challenges of transforming local contexts to address global challenges.
