Adeola Joseph Oloruntoba has emerged as the overall best graduating student at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) [2019/2020 academic session].

Adeola Joseph Oloruntoba, a graduate of the Department of Mathematics of the Faculty of Physical Sciences had a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.92 in a 5.0 grading system.

He receives the University Merit Award among other beneficiaries.

Twenty clean energy start-ups, from over 400 original applications successfully completed a 6-month incubation programme run by the NCIC.

Abanika Taiye Wins 2021 Maltina Teacher Of The Year Award

Abanika Taiye has emerged winner of the 2021 Maltina Teacher of the Year Award organised by Nigeria Breweries through its flagship malt brand Maltina.

Abanika Taiye, a basic technology teacher with James Hope Royal College, Agbor, Delta State received a total cash prize of 6.5 million Naira (1,500,000 immediately and 1,000,000 every year for the next five years) from the Nigerian Breweries/Felix Ohiwerei Trust Fund.

He will also be part of an all-expense paid capacity development training abroad, while a fully-equipped computer laboratory or six-classroom block worth 20,000,000 will be built in his school.

The winners were announced on October 15, 2020 at the grand finale of the 2021 Maltina Teacher of the year award ceremony event at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Oluwasegun Olakoyenikan Wins 2021 African Fact-Checking Award

Oluwasegun Olakoyenikan emerges the first runner-up in the Fact-Check of the Year by a Working Journalist category at the 2021 African Fact-Checking Award.

The category was won by Jean le Roux from the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Lab in South Africa.

Reagan Kiyimba of Uganda from Makerere University won the Fact-Check of the Year by a Student Journalist category. Fatma Mbacké of Senegal from CESTI Dakar emerged the first runner-up in the Fact-Check of the Year by a Student Journalist category.

The winner of the best fact-check in the category for working journalists is awarded a prize of $3,000 and the runner-up takes $1,500. The winner of the students category takes home $2,000 while the runner-up collects $1,000.
