Team Nigeria Emerge Winner At 2019 Atoms For Africa Youth Video Competition

Youths from Nigeria, Tanzania and Kenya have been awarded first prize in the 2019 Atoms for Africa Youth Video Competition.

According to the statement from ROSATOM Central and Southern Africa, the winners received the highest number of votes from the jury and the general public via Facebook platform.

The competition was themed: “5th Atoms Empowering Africa”.

The first team of winners from Nigeria include: Egbe Joy, Derick Nwasor and Oghale Yome. The second winners from Tanzania comprised: Edgar John, Ritha Deusdedit and Theresia Mbuli and the third winners from Kenya are Wafula, Lukorito,Job Ogenche and Felix Kipng’etich.

Chinasa Ukandu Wins 2019 Future Stars Coaching Programme

Chinasa Ukandu from Nigeria and Luis Alejandro Castañeda from Colombia have emerged the winners of the 2019 Future Stars coaching programme.

The Future Stars programme was developed by WorldRemit and Arsenal to celebrate the positive impact that grassroots youth football coaches have on their communities, helping the children they train to develop life skills both on and off the pitch.

Temie Giwa-Tobsun Wins 2019 African Netprenuer Prize

Temie Giwa-Tubosun has emerged the overall winner of the 2019 African Netprenuer prize Initiative during the ‘Africa’s Business Heroes Show’.

Omar Sakr from Egypt emerged the second winner, while Christelle Kwizera from Rwanda emerged third winner.

The winners were announced on 16 November 2019 during the Netpreneur 2019 Conference, which held at the Accra International Conference Centre in Accra, Ghana.

The African Netprenuer prize initiative, founded by Jack Ma and sponsored by Alibaba Foundation for Africa, brought together ten of the best young entrepreneurs for a chance to win a share of  USD $1 million.

These were entrepreneurs chosen from over 50 African countries over a 7 month period, who demonstrated great passion and initiative to change their communities for the better.

Ofure Mary Ebhomielen, a student in the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science at the University of Ibadan has emerged the best graduating student at the 2019 convocation ceremony.

Ofure Mary Ebhomielen, who graduated with the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 7.0 received a thunderous ovation when she was presented to parents and well-wishers at the ceremony.

Genevieve Njoku Wins Veteran Category Of The 2019 Lagos Women Run

Kenya’s Cheptoeck Careen and Genevieve Njoku, have emerged winners in the Open and Veteran categories of the 2019 10 kilometres race of the Lagos Women Run held at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos State.

The fourth edition of the race, began at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Onikan, eventually saw Careen winning the Women’s Open in a time of 28:55 to clinch first place, while Nigeria’s Deborah Pam came second in 31:05, as Elizabeth Nuhu Power finished third in 31:52.

In the Veteran race for ages 45 to 70, Genevieve Njoku, an officer of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Bayelsa State Command triumphed in 43:03 to come first, while Ann Seriki was second in 45:19, as Bolanle Karim placed third in a time of 46:30.

Crop2Cash, an Agri-Tech startup which connects farmers with capital and markets, has emerged winner of the Nigerian edition of the Global Early-Stage Startup Competition, Seedstars, for 2019.

Medical Startup Doctoora, and e-commerce platform, Traders of Africa came second and third place respectively.
