Presentation National High School Wins 7th Edition Of The Seplat Pearl Quiz Competition

Presentation National High School, Benin City, Edo State has emerged winner of the 7 million star prize in the 7th edition of the Seplat Pearl Quiz Competition held in Asaba, Delta State.

The three-year-old competition for all secondary schools in both Delta and Edo States commenced in the first week of October 2018 with each of the three student representatives of the victorious school (Presentation National High School) received 100,000 and a laptop each.

Sponsors of the 7th edition of the Seplat Pearl Quiz Competition also rewarded the second place winner, Lawrence Prentice Academy, Delta State with 3 million prize money for a project in the school just as the three representatives received the sum of 75,000.00 each while the third place went to University Preparatory Secondary School (UPSS.), Benin that won 1 million and 50,000 each for the representatives of the school.

Speaking at the event, Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa who was represented by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Chiedu Ebie thanked Seplat for the initiative, saying it was in tandem with the state government’s education goals.

Mr. Austin Avuru, the Chief Executive Officer of the organisation represented by Effiong Okon,  Operations Director, said:

“The Pearls Quiz programme is one of Seplat’s CSR initiatives, which we take very seriously not just because it inspires excellence in secondary school children in public and private schools in our host states but also because it addresses the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4.”

The General Manager, External Affairs and Communications, Seplat Petroleum Development, Dr. Chioma Nwachukwu stated:

“The competition has provided an opportunity for the organisation to intervene in the provision of scholarships to 51 students, provision of furniture and stationery in 15 schools across Delta and Edo states as host just as four winning schools have been presented brand-new 16-seater Toyota Hiace buses.”

The prizes also extended to teachers who prepared and accompanied the students just as Even Marble Hill School, which came fourth in the competition received 10,000 each.
