Umar Sadiq has emerged Unión Deportiva Almería Player of the Season for 2021/2022, as the club gains promotion to the Primera División in Spain (La Liga).
Sadiq capped off a fine season with 18 goals and 9 assists in the Segunda Division. He finished the season with the most goal contributions in the league. He also netted once in the Copa Del Rey.

Sadiq played a key role in Almeria’s promotion to La Liga. In the final game of the season, against Leganés, the striker scored a second-half equalizer for Los Rojiblancos to make it 2-2 on the scoreboard. The goal ensured Almeria finished in first position after rivals Eibar fell to a shock 1-0 home defeat.
Signed from Partizan Belgrade €5m in 2020, Sadiq has scored 41 total goals and 15 assists for Almeria in 81 games. The club will play in Spain’s top division next season for the first time since 2014/15.
