Ofure Mary Ebhomielen, who graduated with the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 7.0 received a thunderous ovation when she was presented to parents and well-wishers at the ceremony.

Genevieve Njoku Wins Veteran Category Of The 2019 Lagos Women Run

Kenya’s Cheptoeck Careen and Genevieve Njoku, have emerged winners in the Open and Veteran categories of the 2019 10 kilometres race of the Lagos Women Run held at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos State.

The fourth edition of the race, began at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Onikan, eventually saw Careen winning the Women’s Open in a time of 28:55 to clinch first place, while Nigeria’s Deborah Pam came second in 31:05, as Elizabeth Nuhu Power finished third in 31:52.

In the Veteran race for ages 45 to 70, Genevieve Njoku, an officer of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Bayelsa State Command triumphed in 43:03 to come first, while Ann Seriki was second in 45:19, as Bolanle Karim placed third in a time of 46:30.

Offey Volleyball Club Of Akure & Sonmfo Volleyball Club Of Abuja Win 2019 Legacy Volleyball Championship

Offey Volleyball Club of Akure and Sonmfo Volleyball Club of Abuja have won the male and female categories respectively of the fifth edition of the Legacy Volleyball Championship, which ended at the indoor sports hall the National Stadium, Lagos.

Offey men’s team defeated Nigeria Police 3-1 in a highly competitive encounter to emerge champions, while Sonmfo beat hosts, Legacy Women’s Volleyball Club to be crowned champions of the event.

Follow the Money emerges winner of the Council of Europe Democracy Innovation Award 2019 at the closing session of the 2019 World Forum for Democracy held in Strasburg.

Follow the Money, an initiative of Connected Development, is a network of grassroots citizens in Nigeria dedicated to advocating, visualizing and tracking government and international aid spending in rural communities.

Follow the Money is a participatory advocacy-based initiative that advocates for the proper use of government and international aid funds in grassroots communities, to ultimately ensure that public services work for the people. It is a network of activists, social workers, lawyers, journalists, development consultants, researchers and data analysts, that have signed up on its social mobility platform. It uses media platforms like Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, as well as mainstream media, to amplify the voices of marginalised communities.

Ndagaba Baba Alhaji Receives Bob Freeman Humanitarian Award [2019]

Ndagaba Baba Alhaji and Dr. Paul Farmer have been awarded the Bob Freeman Humanitarian Award by the United Nations (UN).

Ndagaba Baba Alhaji has dedicated his life, according to the citation of his award, to “working to provide medical supplies and equipment to under-served communities across the African diaspora.”

Ndagaba’s humanitarian effort was inspired by the same he received from a Chicago hospital when he needed a heart surgery that would have costed him 180 million Naira.

Help came for him when the Advocate Christ Medical Center in Chicago operated on him for free and told him all he needed to pay back was to extend the same act of kindness to others.

Dr. Paul Farmer, a professor of Global Health and Social Medicine, Chair of the Harvard Medical School, and UN Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on Community-based Medicine.
