Winners have emerged in the 2020 SystemSpecs Children’s Day essay competition with entries received from public and private secondary schools in Nigeria.

The competition was organised to create opportunities for children from ages nine to 16 to share innovative ideas capable of driving the attainment of a sustainable, technology-driven economy in Nigeria, which would be the pride of Africa.

LASU Emerges FAO National Partner Institute In Implementing The FISH4ACP Project [2020]

The Lagos State University (LASU) has been selected by the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) as its National Partner Institute (NPI) in implementing the FISH4ACP Project.

The university also receive a partial grant of up to $95,000 towards the FISH4ACP Project (Support for the Development of Farmed Catfish Value Chain in Nigeria).

UNILAG Ranked Third Most Productive School In Africa In Educating Entrepreneurs [2020]

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has been ranked as the third (3rd) most productive school in educating entrepreneurs in an online publication by Forbes titled: If You Want To Start A Tech-Company In Africa, Go To College.”

UNILAG was ranked alongside the University of Cape Town, South Africa, which took 1st place; Makerere University, Uganda, which came 2nd; University of Nairobi, Kenya, which came 4th and Stellenbosch University, South Africa, which took 5th place.

The article further described the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and the University of Nairobi as the “startup powerhouses of Nigeria and Kenya.”

Cobhams Asuquo Appointed UNICEF National Ambassador

Cobhams Asuquo has been appointed the National Ambassador of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

UNICEF Nigeria Representative, Peter Hawkins, announced the appointment in a statement in Kaduna on the 27th of May 2020.

Mr. Hawkins said that the appointment made the award-winning Nigerian musician, producer and songwriter, UNICEF Nigeria’s first National Ambassador in the last 15 years.

Nkechi Alexandra Kingsley has emerged as the overall best graduating student at the 27th Convocation ceremony at the Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH).

The ceremony was held at the Convocation Ground on the main campus of the institution in Ikorodu on March 12, 2020.

Nkechi Alexandra Kingsley of the Department of Chemical Engineering, graduated with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.93 on a scale of 4.0.

About 250 pupils have emerged winners in their respective categories at the 2020 Universal Concept of Mental Arithmetic System (UCMAS) competition.

The pupils won trophies, medals, and certificates after answering mental arithmetic questions in the competition held in Lagos.
