Queen Elizabeth II of Britain has conferred one of the highest national honours, Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire, on a British-born Nigerian nurse, health expert, lecturer and medical professor, Ms. Elizabeth Nneka Anionwu.
The Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire conferment on Dame Anionwu of Irish and Nigerian descent was in recognition of her services to the nursing profession in the United Kingdom.
Hygeia Health Management Organization (HMO) has emerged the Africa Best Rated HMO at the 2nd ADM National Development Forum and Award of Excellence 2016 held in Lagos.
Organized by African Development Magazine (ADM), the HMO was selected for the coveted award because of its focus on consistently delivering quality healthcare service and the high level of professionalism exhibited over the decades.
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has received the Certificate of Admission of the State as one of the 100 Resilient Cities (100RC) in the world pioneered by the Rockefeller Foundation, saying that it was a starting point and a positive partnership that would help the State address the challenges of urban planning, transport gridlock, environment and modern infrastructure.
According to the Governor:
“Lagos is currently home to about 23 million inhabitants with an estimated 86 people moving into Lagos every hour. This creates challenges of managing a daily increase in human and vehicular movement.”

Independent pharmacist Arikawe Olutayo has been named as the winner of the ‘I Love My Pharmacist Award’ 2016.
The award was presented following a final judging panel day at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in London, during which each of the six regional finalists were given the opportunity to highlight their work and healthcare initiatives in a ten-minute presentation.
