Ireti Wins Wema Bank Hackaholics 4.0 Competition

Ireti, a health-tech startup dedicated to improving breast cancer care, has won the Wema Bank Hackaholics 4.0 competition and awarded a cash prize of ₦15 million during the Wema Bank/ALAT Hackaholics Digital Summit and Grand Finale in Lagos.

GRIP, a fintech startup, claimed the first runner-up position, winning ₦10 million, while Trakka, another participant, secured ₦7 million as the second runner-up. Additionally, Outsidee received ₦5 million for the Women Led Award, a prize designed to support women in the tech industry.

The competition featured various categories, with Naijabox winning in the energy startup category, PUP Industries in the climate subset category, MumAlive in the health startup category, Chao in the e-commerce category, and University-X in the edutech category.

The 10 finalists for Hackaholics 4.0 included IRETI, GRIP, Trakka, Outsidee, Chao, Raptor, Pup Industries, University-X, Naijabox, and MumAlive.

Furthermore, three universities received funding from the Wema Bank Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics endowment fund: Babcock University (₦10 million), Afe Babalola University (₦7 million), and Nile University (₦5 million).

IRETI’s founder and creative director, Jane Agbaohwo, expressed the startup’s commitment to raising awareness about breast cancer, emphasizing the importance of early detection and timely treatment.

Moruf Oseni, MD/CEO of Wema Bank, highlighted the bank’s support for the tech ecosystem in Nigeria, blending traditional banking expertise with technology.

Olugbenga Agboola, Founder and CEO of Flutterwave, commended Wema Bank for fostering innovation in the fintech ecosystem and recognized the value of events like Hackaholics 4.0 in addressing local and global challenges through technology.

Tunde Mabawonku, ED, retail, and digital business at Wema Bank, emphasized the summit’s role in uniting digital innovators, visionaries, and industry leaders in Nigeria, with a focus on harnessing the collective potential of startup founders and redefining possibilities in the digital age.
