Kaduna Polytechnic Wins Best Polytechnic Award In Nigeria At 2026 National Tertiary Admissions Performance Merit Award (NATAP-M)

Kaduna Polytechnic has been declared the best polytechnic in Nigeria at the 5th edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance Merit Award (NATAP-M), organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

The school won a cash prize of ₦50 million.

The institution topped the polytechnic category in the combined assessment of the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 admission cycles, scoring an aggregate of 10 points across the five performance indicators used for the evaluation.

The NATAP-M Awards were instituted by JAMB to encourage fairness, transparency, and competitiveness among tertiary institutions in Nigeria’s admission processes, while also rewarding excellence in performance.

In the overall ranking, Ahmadu Bello University emerged as the best-performing institution with 14 points, earning a prize of ₦500 million.

The University of Ilorin came second with ₦75 million, while Nile University of Nigeria secured third place with ₦25 million.

In other categories, the Federal College of Education won the Colleges of Education award with ₦50 million, while PEFTI Film Institute clinched the Innovation Enterprise Institutions category, taking home ₦10 million.

Speaking during the award presentation in Abuja, the Rector of Kaduna Polytechnic, Dr. Suleiman Umar, commended JAMB for what he described as a transparent and credible selection process.

He also praised the institution’s Governing Council, management and staff for their consistent efforts toward academic excellence and institutional growth.

He added that the recognition reflects Kaduna Polytechnic’s commitment to maintaining a conducive learning environment and strengthening access to quality technical education for students within Nigeria and across Africa.
