CHICKEN CHANGE

Same spot, different colours, the traffic was so intense. My shoes were already dusty at this point and my clothes soaked in sweat. After three long hours of what seemed like a neverending journey, I reached my destination and alighted from the bus. After I collected my change, a little child beckoned to me that he was hungry. What I gave may have looked like “chicken change” to some, but it meant more to that little boy, as he hurried off with so much gratitude in his eyes. Let’s do all the good we can with respect.

DIRTY SLAP

She heard the sound from her room; another plate has been broken. She rushed into the kitchen like an angry bull and gave her house girl who was barely a teenager, a very dirty slap. The house girl landed on the floor and became unconscious to the utter dismay of her madam, that was when all the neighbours heard the loud cry for help. Irrespective of any offense, we should give room for tolerance as we humans and we aren’t above mistakes. We  should treat others with respect irrespective of our status in society.

EYE SERVICE

Ade is a nice boy who likes helping people but also enjoys pleasing people for the sake of acknowledgment. In essence, he likes “eye service”. Ade worked in an organization where he had the mentality of things not working well in his absence. He took jobs that were not related to his work and tried pleasing as many people as she could. Staff in the organization took his efforts for granted and started giving him more work to do. We should play our part for the good of others and with respect to ourselves.
