CHICKEN CHANGE

” Abeg, epp me collect my change for Obinna shop na” Adams , my elder brother pleaded with me.

” Na how much?” I replied hesitantly.

” Na 50 box o” he said shyly.

I hissed and said bluntly, ” I no dey go”.

He felt disrespected.

Suddenly, heaven began to weep and we needed to escape it’s tears. Just 50 naira could take us home but we were penniless.

It then dawned on me how helpful Adam’s 50 naira would have been.

Well, heaven wept angrily and we groaned as well.

DIRTY SLAP

I was supposed to mind my business but the ‘busy body’ spirit in me aroused to cloud nine and I found myself walking friskily to the master bedroom to eavesdrop.

What my ears heard, my mouth couldn’t contain it and mistakenly, I exclaimed without knowing it . I was heard and immediately, the door creaked open and before I became ‘Flash’, I was a ‘snail.’

A mighty hand blessed my face with a slap that reconfigured me to realize that I was excellent at frivolities rather than my work. It’s funny how a dirty slap changed me forever.

EYE SERVICE

We were teenagers when mother taught us how to knit. She’d buy us wools and knitting equipments to make some wears for ourselves. I preferred to play but Faith knitted like her life depends on it.

Once I saw Mummy coming, I’d pick up my equipments and pretend to knit and when she’s gone, I’d go and play. This continued until mum died and I had no one and nothing to foot my bills.

Well, faith is now a professional knitter who travels the world for business because of this talent.

Eye service robbed me!
