Seven (7) Nigerians Triumph At 2021 International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Championship

Seven Nigerian weightlifters have won nine medals at the 2021 International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Championships, which was held in Uzbekistan.

The lifters, made up of five women and two men, represented the country in the 10-day events, which also served as the Commonwealth Games qualifiers.

Kwara State Wins 2021 President’s National Inter-Basic School Debate Championship

Kwara State has emerged as the winner of the 61st Independence anniversary President’s national Inter-basic school debate championship held in Lagos State.

Kwara and Katsina states competed for the first and second positions, while Imo and Lagos states competed for the third and fourth positions.

Winners Of 2021 Diamond Awards For Media Excellence (DAME)

Winners have emerged at the 2021 Diamond Awards for Media Excellence (DAME), which held at the Shell Hall, Muson Centre, Lagos.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Mr. Lanre Idowu, editor-in-chief of Media Review, the organisers of the award said 24 categories were advertised in the award but that only 13 categories had worthy entries.

He said DAME did not find entries for 11 categories that were worthy of its awards and that the organisation has resolved to put in place a programme to improve quality of entries in the coming year.

He said journalists are very important people in the society and that they deserve to be rewarded for the good work that they do.

Trove Finance Wins Ecobank Fintech Challenge 2021

Nigerian-based global share dealing app, Trove Finance, has emerged as the winner of the fourth edition of the annual Ecobank Fintech Challenge.

In a statement released on 16 December 2021, the organisers said the winner was announced at the grand finale on 9 December, 2021 streamed live from Accra in Ghana – and saw each of the five finalists pitching to the tech-savvy jury.

Trove Finance’s app enables African-based financial institutions and individuals to buy, sell and trade any publicly traded equity, bond or exchange-traded fund across the US, Chinese, Nigerian or other global stock markets, with as little as 1,000 (circa $2).

Asisat Oshoala Named IFFHS Women’s Best Player In CAF 2021

Super Falcons captain, Asisat Oshoala, has been named the women’s best footballer in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) region by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).

Chiamaka Nnadozie was also named the best goalkeeper in the region.

Tanvita Koushik Wins Inaugural Nigeria Info “I Beg To Differ” Student Debate Competition

13-year-old Tanvita Koushik has emerged winner of the inaugural edition of the Nigeria Info “I Beg To Differ” student debate competition.

The debate competition, which commenced in November 2021, featured hundreds of secondary school students across Lagos State between the ages of 13 to 17 years.
