Winners Of ITU Young ICT Leaders’ Forum (YILF) Innovation Challenges 2019

Winners have emerged in the ITU Young ICT Leaders’ Forum (YILF) Innovation Challenges 2019, which took place from September 3-6 in smart city of Busan, Republic of Korea.

The Young ICT Leaders’ Forum is an annual event organized by ITU and Busan Metropolitan city. It gathered youths worldwide to learn and to share ideas about ICT development and innovations.

The 6th edition of the Young ICT leaders under the overall theme of “Mind the gap: Sustainability and Impact in Smart Cities” explored a first gap where youth entrepreneurs are inhibiting from addressing the right problems in their community, a second gap where their solutions are unable to scale in an increasingly complex and interdependent world.

Amali Mucheke Wins 2019 Historical Association’s Historical Fiction Prize

Amali Mucheke, a Year 7 pupil of Lagos Preparatory & Secondary School (LPSS) has won the London-based Historical Association’s fiction prize with her entry titled, “Freedom for all”.

The story, which was based around colonial Nigeria, won Amali Mucheke the much-coveted prize for her category.

Amali’s entry was sent to London alongside two others from the school, which are Bethany Okeowo’s, “The maid’s moment” and Kitan Fagbamigbe’s “The queen, the candle and the golden mirror,” and she emerged the winner from all the entries submitted by students from across the world.

EZ-Farming Wins 2019 Georgetown African Business Conference New Venture Competition

EZ-Farming has won the first prize of $5,000 and the people’s choice award at the 2019 Georgetown African Business conference New venture competition, hosted by the Young African Professionals in Washington DC.

Based on the feat, EZ-Farming has assured that its strategic agribusiness model of rapidly scaling small farms into commercial sizes and equipping the next generation of farmers has opened up new opportunities for investment in the sector, with a pledge to ensure the highest return on investment (ROI) and best insurance cover for various packages in the Agritech space.

Team Tech Dolphs Wins 2019 Beyond School Community Challenge

Team Tech Dolphs have emerged overall winner of the 2019 Beyond School Community Challenge with a cash reward of ₦350,000.

Team Tech Dolphs from Divine Progress School, Kaduna State was honored by the United States of America embassy in Nigeria after creating an app that could help people with disability.

Team Green Tech from Topfield College, Ajegunle, Lagos State emerged in second position with a cash reward of ₦250,000 while Team Recyclarts from the African Church Model College, Ifako-Ijaiye, Lagos finished third with a cash reward of ₦100,000 and six (6) month mentorships.

NERC Wins 2019 National Freedom Of Information (FOI) Compliance Ranking

The Nigerian Electricity Regulation Commission (NERC) has emerged as the winner of the 2019 National Freedom of Information (FOI) Compliance Ranking in an event held at the CBN International Training Institute, Abuja on September 26, 2019.

Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission emerged second and third respectively.
