Musa Mustapha Ranked World’s Best In Boys’ Under-11 Category By International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF)

Musa Mustapha has been ranked the world’s best in the Boys’ under-11 category by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).

With this development, Musa Mustapha has become the second African to be rated Number one (1) in the world after Hana Goda was in 2020, named the best under-15 girl in the world.

Team Queens’ Foris Labs Win Diamond Challenge Global Prize Award 2021

Team Queens’ Foris Labs, a team of seven Nigerian students has emerged overall winner of the Diamond Challenge Global Prize Award 2021.

Team Queens’ Foris Labs, a team of seven students from Queen of the Rosary College, Onitsha comprising of Chisom Iwuno, Amara Okechukwu, Okoye Chidinma, Nnaji Mmesoma, Mgbafulu Sandra, Anozie Stephanie and Iheator was led by their mentors – John Onuigbo and Kyrian Obikwelu.

The team won a $1,500 cash prize along with other prizes including further mentorship, etc.

Dyslexia Genius, a team of three students from China/USA emerged in second place.

“Participatory Research For Low-resourced Machine Translation: A Case Study In African Languages” Wins Wikimedia Foundation Research Award Of The Year 2021

“Participatory Research For Low-resourced Machine Translation: A Case Study In African Languages” has emerged winner of the Wikimedia Foundation Research Award of the Year 2021.

The award was presented by Jimmy Wales, the Founder of Wikipedia and Wikimedia Foundation.

The 18-page research work published in November 2020 (publisher: Association for Computational Linguistics) was undertaken by a total of 47 authors and the Masakhane community with about 18 Nigerians directly involved.

Kehinde Monsurat Agboola Best Graduating Medical Student At University Of Sierra Leone [2019/2020]

Kehinde Monsurat Agboola has emerged as the best graduating medical student at the College of medicine, University of Sierra Leone [2019/2020].

She had eleven (11) best awards in a row, which has never been achieved in the history of the West African country.

The Award and Swearing Ceremony took place on 9th April 2021, she graduated on 13th April 2021.

University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan Successfully Delivers First IVF Triplets

The University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan took delivery of triplets of the first In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) procedure carried out in the hospital.

The 45-minute procedure for the delivery commenced at about 1pm.

The mother and the babies – all females – are in good condition, the hospital authorities.

The babies weighed 1.4 kg, 2.5 kg and 2.4  kg respectively.

Team Delta State Wins 20th National Sports Festival

Team Delta State has emerged overall winner of the 20th National Sports Festival held in Edo State between April 2 – 14, 2021 obtaining a total of 384 medals (158 gold, 116 silver, and 110 bronze).

Team Edo State, the host, finished in second place with a total of 341 medals – 129 gold, 104 silver, and 108 bronze while Team Bayelsa State finished a third with a total of 169 medals – 56 gold, 55 silver, and 58 bronze.
