Dr. Kingsley Akinroye Receives The Lion Of Finland Knight Award

Dr. Kingsley Akinroye has been presented with the Lion of Finland Knight Award in recognition of his contributions in the area of health and education associating with Finland in the last 25 years.

Dr. Kingsley Akinroye, renowned cardiologist and the Executive Director of the Nigerian Heart Foundation (NHF) was presented the award by the Ambassador of Finland to Nigeria, Dr. Jyrki Pulkkinen in Abuja as part of its activities to mark its 103rd independence.

Dr. Akinroye is an experienced physician and global health leader with over two decades of work focused on cardiovascular health and non-communicable diseases.

Winners Of 2020 Nigeria Media Merit Award (NMMA)

Winners have emerged at the 2020 Nigeria Media Merit Award (NMMA), held at the Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos on the 18th of December 2020.

The Chairman, Panel of Assessors, Nigeria Media Merit Awards, Professor Ralph Akinfeleye, said in spite of the uncertainties of 2020, the media responded to the call for entries “overwhelmingly”.

He noted that the panel received a total of 895 entries from 665 entrants, as against the 752 entries it got from 520 entrants in 2019.

Professor Akinfeleye, however, said no award was given in seven categories because none of the entries met the 70 percent cut off mark for nomination.

They are the Brand Marketing Reporter of the Year, Oil and Gas Reporter of the Year, Aviation Industry Reporter of the Year, Business Publication of the Year, Radio Broadcaster of the Year, TV Production of the Year, and TV Drama of the Year.

Winners have emerged in the 2020 Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ) Awards held on December 9, 2020 in Lagos.

The Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ) annually honours journalists who use investigative stories to amplify the voice of the most vulnerable in Nigeria.

Only eight journalists received awards at the 15th edition of the awards ceremony, picked from 188 entries.
